SHRI JAGANNATH SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, COATS CAMPUS, SABARA SHREEKSHETRA KORAPUT: ODISHA (Sewing Machine Operators Training for Women) IN COLLABORATION WITH CENTURIAN GROUP OF INDUSTRIES AND TECHNOLOGY - A WING OF CENTURION UNIVERSITY, ODISHA

A Brief Note :

This training Centre provides a preliminary training to women candidates to handle electrically operated sewing machines. Candidates selected for training belong to ST, SC and other weaker sections. All of them come from BPL families.

It is an intensive training for one month. After the training period the candidates are employed in Apparel Manufacturing Firms in cities like Tirupur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Trivendram and Bangalore. These are mostly export oriented firms.

Council of Analytical Tribal Studies (COATS), Koraput has provided all infrastructure facilities like halls for training, rooms for hostel, electricity and water facilities and necessary furniture's. The Centurion Group of Industries has installed all machines, equipments, and bears all training cost of the candidates including fooding, training staff and security etc.

The Training Institute started functioning in February, 2011. So far 16 batches of candidates have completed their training and out of them 15 batches have been accommodated in various Apparel Manufacturing firms outside Odisha. 16th batch of candidates will shortly go for placement.

So far 477 candidates (by November, 2012) have already been trained from this centre out of which 399 candidates have been employed in various Apparel making Firms. 78 candidates out of 477 those so far got training dropped out due to their personal difficulties.
